OUR PROGRAMS
Care
Through our holistic, survivor-led, trauma-informed care, we help women heal from their past and rebuild their lives. On average, over 700 women a year receive care from Treasures.
Online Support Groups
Treasures offers online support groups to women who have experienced exploitation and trafficking. They are designed to be a safe place where women can experience peer support, skill building, community, and an opportunity for healing and restoration. All of our support groups are led by lived-experience experts (survivors of exploitation and trafficking).
On average, over 475 women attend our online support groups each year.
Mentoring
Our mentors go through extensive training to provide individualized, trauma-informed care to help women reach their goals on their journey to freedom and recovery.
Coaching
For those looking for more directed support in goal setting, our team developed a six-week coaching program, Design Your Destiny. The program was specifically designed by survivors for women who are being mentored through Treasures.
Weekly bible Study
This survivor-led, online support group is designed to be a safe place for women who desire to incorporate faith into their healing journey. They are invited to explore spiritual practices and deepen their relationship with God.*
*Though we are a faith-based organization, there are no faith requirements and no strings attached when it comes to all of our programs and services. Our support groups and mentoring are open to women from all walks of life, and we respect everyone’s religious and spiritual views.
GENTLE CASE MANAGEMENT
Through our light touch case management, we equip women with the resources they need in order to holistically address the needs and challenges they face. Through our extensive list of community partnerships, we are able to help women access resources such as residential programs, vocational and educational training, legal assistance, funding through victims of crime, and much more. On average, we serve over 100 women a year with case management services.
VOCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT
In partnership with The Change Reaction, Treasures is dedicated to supporting working individuals and families who are navigating significant life transitions, such as career development, moving into permanent housing, and moving from a supportive environment into a more independent situation. Through this fund, qualifying individuals receive an annual stipend of $5,100 paid out in increments of $425 per month in order to pursue educational or vocational training. This fund supports women as they transition to stabilization and permanent freedom from exploitation and trafficking.
In partnership with Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC), twice a year we host the women we serve at events that showcase a variety of trade programs, inspiring them to explore new skills and gain the confidence to pursue future career opportunities. During these events, participants enjoy dinner, get hands-on experience in different trades and learn about financial assistance options.
EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
On their journeys to finding freedom from sexual exploitation and trafficking, many of the women we serve are faced with the harsh realities of poverty, unemployment, unstable housing and homelessness. Through our Angel Fund, in partnership with Change Reaction, Treasures is able to meet the emergency financial needs of women who are diligently fighting for their freedom and healing. On average, we support about 150 women a year with emergency financial assistance.
LIVE FREE RECOVERY CURRICULUM
The Live Free Recovery Curriculum is a series designed to equip and empower women who have experienced sexual exploitation and trafficking to live healthy and flourishing lives. Based on the Stages of Change model and key resilience building blocks, the Live Free curriculum will provide a series of volumes customized to the needs of people in the varying stages of their recovery journey.
OUTREACH
We reach women and girls in strip clubs, porn, escorting, prostitution, and victims of trafficking with the message that they are loved, valued, and purposed and that support is available when they are ready.
Areas of Outreach
Monthly Strip Club Outreach to 47 strip clubs in Los Angeles County.
Bi-monthly outreach to HIV testing centers for people in porn
Online outreach through platforms where the women are interfacing.
Outreach to system-impacted youth through retreats and workshops in partnership with DCFS, Department of Probations, and Local organizations serving youth.
PREVENTION
In partnership with DCFS, Probations and local NGOs serving youth, we host workshops designed to build resilience, foster a sense of identity, learn about healthy boundaries and empower teens to develop healthy connections with safe people. These skills serve as protective factors against being trafficked or re-exploited.
TRAINING
Our training is designed to equip and empower allies, service providers and churches to effectively reach and support women in their cities who have been impacted by sexual exploitation and trafficking. To date, we have trained outreaches in over 120 cities on 6 continents.
COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT
In collaboration with three other Los Angeles-based non-profits providing services to women who have experienced exploitation and trafficking, Treasures is conducting a longitudinal study tracking survivor success in 14 different categories. We are utilizing data collected using The Outcomes For Human Trafficking Survivors (OHTS) Instrument. The OHTS is an outcome evaluation instrument designed to help comprehensive service programs monitor progress toward outcomes among victims and survivors of human trafficking.
Why?
Currently, there are no national longitudinal studies that track survivor success beyond exploitation. Survivors of trafficking do not have a linear journey to success therefore having data over a three-year period would allow for a more comprehensive look at the necessary services survivors need for long-term success.
How?
All partner organizations participating in the study will have been trained to implement the necessary assessments. The data is being collected by a PhD Occupational Therapy student and Occupational Therapist from one of the partner organizations. The data will be analyzed over a period of 3 years to create a map of success.
